Frequently asked questions about mobile Hair and Makeup services in general include:

What is a mobile service? A mobile service is where a qualified beauty & wellness professional visits you anywhere at your chosen location, whether it’s at home, at work, on holidays, at a hotel. At Purely Polished, we bring the salon to you - where all you need to do is book an on-demand service through our platform, and we come to you!

What is the difference between going to a salon and booking a mobile beautician at my home? The definition of luxury and value comes into play when comparing the differences between salons and mobile. Where traditionally we see luxury as a treat to pamper yourself in an environment where you receive VIP treatment, the modern individuals now look for luxuries of time, self-care and convenience. Read our article: How Purely Polished makes a difference in people’s lives with Mobile Services V Traditional, to get a deeper read into the comparative differences.

Why is pricing much higher for mobile appointments, compared to going in-store? Mobile services mean an artist comes to your home. With factors like travelling, labour and unique demands, the cost to operate is much higher than a local beauty salon. Our professionals choose Purely Polished to take back control of their schedules and skills and we are here to pay higher than an average salon, whilst also ensuring quality, consistency and luxury.

We at Purely Polished believe that the luxury of time and convenience is an important element to value.

3 things you can do to prepare for your facial with Purey Polished.

1. Find a space in your home with all the necessary facilities!

When booking a mobile hair and makeup artist to come to your home, the requirements for setting up include the following facilities to be made available. These include:

  • A power point for all electrical tools (dryer, straightner, curler)

  • A table to place all relevant tools, makeup products, brushes and towels at an ease of access (within arms reach)

  • A mirror is preferable to ensure both parties can see the magic in action! However, we provide a hand held mirror to show you the goodies if you don’t have a mirror to work with.

  • Space to work around you in 360 degrees.

Our mobile hair stylists and mobile makeup artists bring their own height adjustable chairs for you to sit on. For instances your professional does not bring a chair, it means that they are happy to work with any seated options you provide.

My house is very small with no big mirrors in the house except for the bathroom. Is that okay?

As long as you’re comfortable, that’s all that matters to us. The Purely Polished team are used to working with busy modelling jobs where they work ontop of 10 other professionals! Our professionals don’t need a mirror to work with - it is only if you would like to see the tranformation step by step!

All in all, our professionals are adaptable to work in any space! If you’re unsure of where is best to set up, we will go through the options with you upon arrival.

2. How to prepare for a hair and makeup appointment.

When booking an appointment to style your hair, we ask that your hair is freshly washed and towel-dried by the time of your appointment.

Your hair can be completely dry or towel dry damp as we work with blow dryers and spray bottles regardless.

Is there a right or wrong way to wash our hair?

Short answer is yes! We’re here with 3 (non basic) insights from our Purely Polished professionals who work with hair everyday.. and it’s come to our attention that we may not be washing our hair properly.. https://www.purelypolished.com.au/blog/how-to-wash-hair-properly

I didn’t have time to wash my hair! Can Purely Polished include it in my booking?

Unfortunately for hair and makeup bookings, we don’t include a hair wash service. Our hairdressers and hair and makeup artists are of different skill sets and expertise where if you are in need of a hairdresser to come to your home, that option is available!

When booking a makeup appointment, our makeup artists prefer to work with faces that are cleansed and have no makeup. Where makeup removal can be included as part of the service, your face may get irritated or sore from the hot and cold rub off process of removing excess makeup.

Things to note:

  • Our policy includes denial of service if your hair is too dirty and unhygienic to work with.

3. What do I wear to a hair and makeup booking?

A commonly asked question we receive is ‘what do I wear to a hair and makeup booking"?’. Mostly the answer is a loose fit t-shirt, more preferably a singlet for ease of removal from the straps. All hair and makeup bookings are serviced with aprons to ensure nothing gets stained/spilled on your clothes, however, a t-shirt that is okay to get a little dirty would be the safest option.

4. Check that you’ve added your special requests and requirements into your booking order.

With being a mobile beauty and wellness service, our professionals come equipped each day to service their allocated bookings and appointments. Should you have any special requests including:

  • A request for vegan-only products to be used

To not use a specific product/brand due to skin irritation etc.

  • No use of a specific brand due to personal reasons etc.

  • Unique styles and designs that are very different and focus on technicalities (senior or intermediate skillset, broader range of colour like neon, orange eyeliner, green mascara, blue lipstick etc)

Please ensure all requirements are listed in your booking before your chosen date to ensure our professionals are packing the correct products and tools to conduct your service. If you make a booking with requirements from the get go, we ensure we match you with the right professional who specialises with that particular request.

Whatever the requirement, we’re here to help! Help us help you by providing us with the information we need!
